33. Skin Science - NEW Retinol Clearing Oil

Updated: Mar 21

A brand new powerhouse formula that is the first to combine two of the industry's gold standard ingredients in one product. Retinol Clearing Oil is an overnight treatment that clears breakouts and visible signs of premature skin ageing.

Many client's are struggling with skin breakouts during this unprecedented time. It is an

unusual and stressful time in our lives, and stress is a trigger that increases stress hormones and directly produces more oil in the skin. Change in hormones and an increase in sebaceous activity combined with our cell turnover slowing down from age is a recipe for breakouts on the skin.

This potent formula improves skin clarity and vibrance overnight while a skin-soothing combination of Rosehip oil, Jojoba oil and Argan oil helps to reduce visible signs of premature ageing and clear breakouts. It's a dry oil that combines Salicylic Acid and Retinol, two gold standard ingredients in a powerhouse formula.

Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid that loves oil and will unclog the pores by dissolving the debris in the follicle and help decongest it. It also enhances the skin's natural exfoliation process.

Retinol comes from the retinoid family which is part of the Vitamin A group and these come in many forms in the beauty industry, such as acne prescription, cosmetic and skincare. The retinol used in this product is gentle enough to use daily and doesn't need an introduction because it is used in a retinoid acid. Making it more quickly absorbed into the skin so that it can be utilised faster. Retinol Clearing Oil uses a proplonate retinol to give the skin a time released delivery and make it sustainable and better tolerated by many different skin types.

Retinol Clearing Oil is a high performance oil that treats marks left behind after breakouts that can accelerate the signs of ageing and it treats the breakout itself. Phytolipids such as Argan oil, Jojoba oil and Rosehip seed oil create a lightweight replenishing oil with a dry oil feel that repairs the barrier function whilst treating the skin overnight. Unlike other Dermalogica retinol products, it contains salicylic acid 2% combined with a mild retinol formula so it can be used every night.

Study shows the impact of salicylic acid to decongest and exfoliate the skin combined with retinol to boost cell turn over improves the skin's appearance by 50% - International Dermal Institute

A Clinical Study has proven the skin is clearer, smoother and more vibrant overnight. After 7 days of nightly use, dark spots left from acne were healing and there was a visibly improved skin appearance. After 4 weeks of use there was a visible impact on signs of premature ageing, and after 8 weeks an enhanced improvement in overall skin tone, texture, and decongesting factor along with the improvement of fine lines and wrinkles. From a skin clearing perspective the results have been incredible!

It can be used on its own, or you can seal the overnight treatment in with intensive moisture balance and sound sleep cocoon. Press and release the top to fill the dropper. Dispense 6-10 drops and smooth over face and neck. It should not be used in combination with any other active treatment product and the eye area should be avoided due to the levels of salicylic acid and retinol in the Retinol Clearing Oil. If you are concerned with ageing around the eye area Age Reverse Eye Repair is a great overnight treatment to brighten, firm and boost the gentle eye tissue. Retinol Clearing Oil is not recommended to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding because of the retinol content. You can still exfoliate as part of your homecare regime, but please check with your Professional Skin Therapist for the best routine for your skin.

The Retinol Clearing Oil is launching on Thursday, 28 March and can be preordered from our website. It costs £69.00 for a 30ml bottle and you can get 167 uses out of it, so should last you about six months.

Hi Jo, Great questions, thank you!! No, I would not recommend this as an anti-ageing only treatment. It’s been designed to focus on skin’s who suffer from congestion to help repair and heal breakouts. Yes it is suitable for sensitive skin’s but it is an active product with 2% salicylic acid so I would recommend seeking advice advice from your professional skin therapist who know’s each client’s skin. (I wouldn’t recommend this for you...Xx) Yes it can be used during the summer, but it is essential to wear a high factor spf everyday and a hat to protect the face. Thank you XxD

Hello D, would you recommend this product for help with ageing only (skin without problems of break outs). Is this suitable for nightly use on sensitive skin and because of the retinol are you ok to use if you’ve been exposed to the sun? Thank you J
